When Should You Replace Your Faucet?
When it comes to our bathroom/kitchen faucet, we don’t always notice that there is something wrong with it. If you seem to be experiencing trouble with your faucet, it might be time to either repair it, or get it replaced. Here is a list of things to look for in your faucets to see if they need attention.
– Is your faucet leaking? If your faucet is leaking, then you may not need to get it replaced, but definitely get it fixed. It usually involves replacing the cartridge with a new one.
– Is your faucet really old? Believe it or not, faucets have a life-span. they can usually last about 15-20 years. Of course, it all depends on the brand and quality. But, if you think that your faucet is getting to that 15-20 year mark, then you should probably get that replaced.
– Are you seeing mineral deposits coming out? If so, then that’s not good, especially if you drink of that faucet. Mineral deposits build up in your faucets and can cause some damage. If you see visible mineral deposits when you turn on the faucet, definitely get that replaced. You can also look into getting a water softener as well.
– Does your faucet look rusted? If you see rust on the outside of your faucet, then most likely, you have rust going on in the inside of your faucet. If that rust is left unattended for too long, then the corrosion can cause leaks and effect the quality of water.
– Are you constantly repairing your faucet? Repairing your faucet once or twice can be a lot cheaper than getting it replaced. But if you are constantly having to repair your sink, then it might just be cheaper to just get it replaced and save yourself from the trauma.
These are all some things to look out for once in a while to make sure that your faucet is running smoothly. Depending on the situation, you might just have to do a quick repair, especially if the faucet isn’t that old. Of course, if you are wanting to replace your faucet just because you want a more efficient one, then that is great! It’s better for you, and the environment.
